Time to Start Fresh

Well, it’s that time of year for spring cleaning. Closets, pantry, drawers, garage, shed, even under the beds…we all know where we stash the stuff we have to keep. But here’s the rule – if you haven’t used it or looked for it in a year…GET RID OF IT!!! Yes, I know it’s hard. We are our own worst enemies when it comes to disposing of unnecessary stuff, clothes, and keys that we have no idea of where they are for that we all tend to keep. Those expired coupons we intended to use, but were lost in the clutter. Old phone cases that don’t even fit our current cell phone, and so on! So let’s start a trend and get serious about clearing out all the unnecessary stuff we don’t need. Here’s a few tips to make this endeavor a little easier:

  1. Start in one area. Create a checklist for each part of each room or location that needs extra attention and de-cluttering!

  2. Arrange what you need – get rid of the rest, sort and streamline.

  3. This is a group effort, if you live alone or if your family is not near, just remember this is a team effort and we are all in this together. But if you have someone that lives with you – get them involved.

  4. Create a list of “To Do’s” to achieve while you are disposing of unnecessary items. This is a great opportunity to clean carpets, windows, blinds, and preventative maintenance in areas you were unable to get to before.

  5. Maintain this new organized style. Try to spend a little time each week making sure you don’t start accumulating this unnecessary stuff again. Be brave… let things go. And next spring you can enjoy a fabulous vacation instead of doing this annual clear out!!
